Summer is Here!

Strawberry season is coming to an end. Considering all our weather issues during the last few weeks, the season turned out OK and the strawberries were flavorful. This weekend we move into raspberry picking at Matson Hill. Our hours may vary so check our Facebook feed for specifics or call our info line 860-633-7467. Breakfast-with-a-View continues Sundays @ Matson Hill 8-1. Blueberries will probably be ready around July 4th. Our Farmers’ Markets are getting into full swing. You can find us at: Mondays: Avon Starts July 10 4pm-7pm Wednesdays: Downtown New Haven 11am-2pm Thursdays: Westport – Imperial Park 10am-2pm Fridays: Old State House Hartford 10am-2pm No

They're Here!

Strawberry season is finally here! We are picking at our Hebron Ave. location only this year. Our hours are Mon-Fri 9-5:30 & Saturday and Sunday 9-4:30. The stand itself is open till 6 during the week and 5 on the weekends. Were also trying something new this year. Instead of by the pound pricing we are offering two sizes of containers and charging for them up-front. This will help us streamline the picking operation since we only have one. The quart container is $5 and holds about 1.75 to 2 lbs. You can get multiple quarts if you need more or go to our 8 quart container for $35 which hold about 12 lbs. We know this will take some getting used to but we hope it will simplify picking fo

Berries on hold............

Over the weekend we were able to pick some strawberries for sale. WE also have a few Monday. When and if, we get some warmer, sunnier weather the strawberry season will begin. We are hoping for this weekend. On other news, we had a great wedding here on Saturday. Congratulations Allegra and Steve, and thank you for sharing your special day with Rose's Berry Farm. This coming weekend, June 10+11, we have 2 more functions. On Saturday, we have the First Annual Fruit Loop run/ride duathlon sponsored by Sound Runner and Cycling Concepts. It entails a course around the farm for running or walking as well as the bike portion on the hilly Matson Hill/Woodland St. loop. A continental breakfast

Hurry up and wait!

The recent cool, rainy weather has not been great for ripening strawberries. We do hope to have strawberries for sale in a few days but it may be as late as June 9. It is shaping up to be a great crop if we get sunny, warm weather. A few crops really like this cool weather: asparagus, kale, lettuce and rhubarb. Get them while they are in season and enjoy the taste of locally grown food.
