Pumpkins
Fall means pumpkin season at Rose's Berry Farm!
Jump on one of our tractor-pulled hay rides and head out to our pumpkin patch starting Saturday, September 29th through Sunday October 28th.
Our hours this year are Saturday, Sunday and Columbus Day, 10am-5pm, weather permitting.
The last ride every day departs at 4:30 pm. Pick out that perfect pumpkin and the hay ride will bring you back to the main area. We are not able to offer wagons full of pumpkins this year.
The admission this year is $7 for anyone 3 yrs. or older. Under age 3, admission is free.
Pumpkins are at Market Price due to shortages and crop losses. Admission includes the following:
- Hayride Tour of the Farm and ride to Pumpkin Patch and Corn Maze
- Face painting 11 to 4 pm
- Live scarecrow 11 to 4 pm
- Children's Play area and Slide
- Corn Maze
- Live music every Sunday 12 to 4 pm in October
- Halloween croquet
- Snack Shack - Hotdogs, Cider Donuts, Apple Cider and snacks for sale

PRIVATE EVENING HAYRIDES
Rose's also offers private evening hay rides after 6 pm for parties of twenty-five or more. This is a fun and different kind of activity for birthdays, club or corporation get-together's. We'll provide hot and cold cider, bonfire (weather permitting) and marshmallows. you come ready to have a good time! Please call us for more information. The charge for this hay ride event is $10 per adult and $8 per child under 12, providing the minimum of $200 has been met. To schedule a tour please call 860-633-6001 or email us with your details.
SCHOOL HAYRIDE TOURS
We also offer children's pumpkin tours for a fun school trip! The tours are offered by appointment only, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays during the month of October . The minimum group size for these tours is 15 people. A tour includes a hay ride to the small pumpkin field where everyone gets to select their own pumpkin. The hay ride is followed by cider and cookies and hot beverages for the adults. The charge for this tour is $8 per person, including chaperones. . Pumpkin Picking Tips
Be sure to select a pumpkin with a firm stem without any visible punctures or surface blemishes. Once you bring your pumpkin home, store it in a cool shady spot. Once you carve your pumpkin it will only last a few days.
Pumpkins are more than just Jack-O-Lanterns!
While pumpkins are most often carved and used as decoration for Halloween, they can also be used as a fresh replacement for dishes calling for canned pumpkin.
Pumpkin Info. ..
- A 5-pound pumpkin will yield approximately 4-1/2 cups of mashed, cooked pumpkin pulp. A 16-ounce can of pumpkin is the equivalent of approximately 2 cups of mashed pulp.
- Store your pumpkin in a cool, dry place. Once it is picked it can last up to 6 weeks if stored properly.
- Carve your pumpkin just 2-3 days before Halloween. they dry out and decompose soon after being carved.
- Sugar pumpkins generally make tastier soups, pies and stews.
- Fresh pumpkins contain a high percentage of water, and most times need to be cooked down to achieve the consistency of canned pumpkin pulp.
- Pumpkin seeds are not only delicious, but high in fiber too! Wash the seeds after taking them out of your pumpkin. Pat off any excess water, spread them on a cookie sheet and bake at 350 degrees until dry. After drying, sprinkle salt on seeds if desired
To cook a pumpkin:
- Wash and cut it in half crosswise. Remove all seeds and strings.
- Place it in a pan, shell side up.
- Bake it at 325 degrees for 1 hour or more depending on size. It should be tender and begin to fall apart.
- Scrape pulp from shell and put it through a strainer.
